Thinking Pen

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Version 2026-09-28. Effective 2026-09-28. Supersedes version 2026-09-14.

Cancel whenever you want, in one step, and we'll refund you if you ask. We would rather give you your money back than have you feel stuck.

How to cancel

Either of these works, and both take effect the same way:

We will not put anything in your way. No retention offer, no discount you have to decline, no survey, no "are you sure" maze, no phone call. If you ever hit friction cancelling, that is a bug — tell us and we'll cancel you and refund you.

What happens when you cancel

Refunds

Ask and we refund you. That's the policy. You don't need a reason, there's no window you have to catch, and we won't push back.

If you don't recognise a charge, please email us before disputing it with your bank. Charges appear as THINKING PEN. We can almost always sort it out the same day, and a refund from us reaches you faster than a dispute does.

If you're cancelling for someone else

If you're a family member, a caregiver, or someone holding power of attorney, and the subscriber can't manage this themselves, email us and we will cancel and refund. We will not require the subscriber to personally authorise it, and we will not make you prove anything first.

If a subscriber has died, please tell us. We'll stop billing immediately and refund the current period. We won't ask for a death certificate to do that.

Renewals and price changes

If we notice you've stopped reading

If your account goes quiet for a long stretch — no letters from you, nothing being opened — we may pause your billing and email to check whether you still want the service. We would rather stop charging you for something you aren't using than keep quietly taking the money.
